The Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam is required for all commercial motor vehicle(CMV) operators. This physical examination can only be completed by a certified professional. A list of all certified professionals can be found at – The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME).

The required medical exam specific for CMV operators helps to determine fitness for duties. The exam includes obtaining data and information on blood pressure, heart disorder, nervous system health, spinal deformities and muscular disease, vision test, psychiatric disorders, hearing disorders, respiratory issues, urinalysis, and general physical examination. You will need to bring to the appointment: medical records, a list of past medical diagnoses, any current medications, any assistive devices, and be prepared to leave a urine sample.
